Nora was contacted by a news reporter from the United States wanting to do an interview about Aniplant. The reporter was very much into animal protection and during her stay had found a lame dog in Old Havana, she fed the dog and contacted Nora. They agreed that as soon as she seen the dog again they would go and get help for him. Unfortunately, they did not see him again as he moved from where he was or may have been collected. While looking for the dog in Havana she found another dog, so sick he was unable to move. He was extremely thin and barely able to drink water and would not eat very much if anything. She rushed him to a local state veterinary office and an unfortunate experience with an employee made it difficult so Nora called and tried to explain the circumstances with the dog. It was now 11 at night and the lady reporter could not bring the dog to where she was staying as it was not allowed. She decided to stay with the dog to look after him to prevent him from being hurt. Early that morning with help she and Nora arrived at Aniplant. The dog at this point could not move and was limp. They prepared a bed for him until the vet could see him. The news was not good and it was suggested that it was best to put him to sleep. Nora in her own words.. "I could not bring myself to make that decision. I always think you have to fight". Nora asked the Vet for some serum and every 3 hours they continued to give him this and drops of water in his mouth. It had been a very long day and night and the lady needed rest as she was leaving back to the United States. Nora continued working with the dog now giving him some honey and he began to savour it, this went on till dawn. Nora decided to try some meat which she let him smell it from her hand and he finally ate. The Vet now noticed the dog was eating so they gave him antibiotics and vitamins. This dog who could not move and with some love and care, finally rose to his feet. He now stands on his own and eats well .. 3 times a day. Happily he is now on the mend and the reporter is going to adopt him. In honor of the taxi driver who loves animals and also helped to bring this dog and lady to the Vet. He is named Cesar Jr.
